Who took part in Beards Diamond Rush last weekend here in Gloucestershire? We did! It was a very busy day for us at Simpsons as, if you haven’t already heard, we were lucky enough to be hiding one of the diamonds in our shop.
Beards Diamond Rush, now in its fourth year, is organised by Beards Jewellers and raises money for the Maggie’s Cancer Care, Cheltenham. This year, the search began with a countdown outside Beards on the Promenade before bounty hunters set off in search around Gloucestershire to find the hidden diamonds, all worth £2,500 each!
However this year’s Beards Diamond Rush featured a twist that was announced at 12noon – that there was an 11th diamond up for grabs. To uncover the 11th diamond’s mystery location, people had to buy clues to discover the location was Simpsons.
To add an extra bit of glitz to the event, treasure hunters were joined in our fish and chip shop by celebrity rapper Professor Green who said he was “sad he didn’t get any fish and chips” but came along to support the day’s activities and cheer on those searching in Simpsons.
The day was a great way to raise money for charity, highlight the fantastic local businesses in Gloucestershire and have fun outside with family and friends. Congratulations to the lucky winners who discovered the hidden Beards Diamond deep in our sweetie jar and well done to everyone else that managed to find the other hidden jewels!
